The Knook

Hello again! So during one of my many adventures to the craft store (promising myself I was only going to look). I discovered the Knook! I had heard of them and was very excited by the prospect. I've attempted knitting in the past and wasn't very impressed with it. It was cumbersome and seemed to take forever to not get very far. I also felt like it limited me to only patterns that involved straight lines (yes, I know they make circular needles, but I couldn't even master the straight ones). So when I heard about knooking I was excited to give it a try. I love crocheting, and being able to accomplish the very pretty look of knitting with a crochet hook was a dream come true. I have started a simple scarf (my go to project when attempting anything new) and I'm proud to say I think I will be sticking with this technique. It's giving me the very pretty stitch of knitting but using a slightly altered crochet hook. I hope to be posting a picture shortly, after a bit more practice.

Finished (Creepy) Crabby Cap

So I'm very proud to say I finally finished this hat I've been working on for my nephew for quite awhile now. I had finished it once before but unfortunately the pattern was too small for his head. So I unwound the hat itself and remade it making up my own pattern as i went. I'm very happy with the way it came out. The idea itself isn't mine. It came from an issue of Crochet Today (July/August 2012 I believe) which is still available on their website (www.crochettoday.com). The original size of the cap would fit most toddlers, possibly up to 3 years old. But if you're like me and have a 2 1/2 year old nephew the size of a 5 year old I would definitely recommend scrapping the pattern for the cap and either use a different pattern for a large size or if you're more experienced or just want to wing it, make up your own. I did also want to say I still have to realign and resew the crab to the hat and fiddle with the eyes to make them stand up, not so creepily but that's a minor detail. All in all I love Crochet Today and all the inspiration it gives me! And I can't wait to present my munchkin his Crabby Cap.

 Mr. Crabby seeeesss you.

First Post!

So this is my first real attempt at blogging. I'm read other people's throughout the years but this is my first crack at it myself. I started this blog because I just want a place where I can show the pretty things I make and maybe get feedback and guidance from others who make pretty things too. So at the moment I mostly crochet in my free time so I'm hoping to get pictures up of a few of the things I've made so far and hopefully get this looking more like a craft blog and less like the template. I'm not sure if anyone will really read any of this but its kind of nice just to talk about what I enjoy doing and how I do it. So, if anyone reads this I hope you'll keep reading and enjoy yourself.
